Externship Project

Hi everyone, my name is Hannah Chenail and I am a third-year veterinary student at Ontario Veterinary College. After completing my undergraduate degree at SUNY Cobleskill, in Cobleskill, New York, I chose OVC because of its overall warm, welcoming atmosphere, high marks on the NAVLE (North American Veterinary Licensing Exam), overall ranking among other veterinary schools and the thought that Canada can’t be that much different than home. Ps, I was wrong; it is very different.

OVC requires students entering their fourth year to conduct an eight-week externship over the summer.   I will be completing my summer externship at Hoosick Veterinary Clinic.

Hoosick Veterinary Clinic is in Hoosick Falls, New York, which is about a forty-minute drive from my family farm in Williamston, Massachusetts (the little yellow star on the map).   I chose this clinic because Dr. Leo Delaney is an amazing mentor, treats all his patients as if they were his own pets and strives to provide excellent care and compassion to his patients daily. Hoosick Veterinary Clinic is a truly mixed animal practice which will allow me to gain experience on a wide variety of species on any given day. This will aid in the reinforcement of everything that I have learned at school, and better prepare me for my fourth-year rotations in the rural community practice stream. I am excited to be home and to share my experiences with all of you.

So, follow along with me this summer!
